As unlikely as a new album is, it's certainly reassuring to hear that The Postal Service's reunion tour has managed to somehow turn a modest synth-pop record into a stadium sized one. Or as Consequence of Sound put it in their review of the duo's Brooklyn show, "We collectively let each other in on a little secret we've kept hidden in car stereos, mixtapes, and iPods for a the last 10 years. To be able to do that with 18,000 people simultaneously is something altogether astounding."

And it's not over yet. As you can see below, Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello will be bringing their full band set to festivals and large venues through early August, a fact we'd like to punctuate with a brand new music video... more »

Leave it to Funny or Die to answer the question that's been on all of our minds lately: Now that they're suddenly playing hockey arenas, who's going to be in The Postal Service's live band?

"Think about the Peppers," 'Dave from Sub Pop' (a.k.a. Jon Daly of the Upright Citizens Brigade) tells Jimmy Tamborello, as he gets ready to host the greatest open audition known to man. "You're the Flea, right? So we need a Kiedis; we need a shirtless maniac out there for all of the girls to get wet over. That's how the music industry works."

Check out the site's 9-minute short below, including cameos by everyone from Moby and Aimee Mann to former members of blink-182, Guns N' Roses and Sunny Day Real Estate... more »

The Postal Service have added nine cross-continental dates to their reunion tour, which will now start on April 9th in Reno, Nevada, and wind down with a wildly ambitious show at Brooklyn's new Barclays Center on June 14th. Helping frontman Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie) and producer Jimmy Tamborello (DNTEL) bring their laptop-bound sound to much larger stages than their last tour will be a full band including Jenny Lewis and Laura Burhenn (Mynabirds, Bright Eyes).

Check out the dates and details below, or head right on over here for tickets. Sub Pop will also release an expanded reissue of the duo's platinum-plated Give Up LP on April 9th... more »

As signaled by a Web site that was launched yesterday, The Postal Service have reunited for an expanded reissue of Give Up — Sub Pop's best-selling album after Nirvana's Bleach — and a possible appearance at Coachella. According to Billboard, at least three inside sources have confirmed the duo's set at the festival. Don't expect any new material, however; as Ben Gibbard told Spinner last year, "People don't get what the Postal Service was meant to be. It was meant to be for fun. And just because it was so successful doesn't mean that we have to make another one."

That said, he made sure to add the following: "The door is not closed, but people shouldn't hold their breath. You're going to pass out if you do."

Check out a video from Gibbard's recent solo record below, as well as a streaming version of his production partner's (DNTEL) latest solo LP... more »
