Jay-Z Brings Made In America Festival Back to Philadelphia, Featuring Nine Inch Nails, Beyoncé and Many More

While he won't be performing this time around, Jay-Z has assembled quite a lineup for his second annual Made In America Festival. Rolling through Philadelphia this Labor Day weekend are such A-list acts as Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age, Deadmau5, Kendrick Lamar, Public Enemy and many, many more.

"The point of having that diversity in our music lineup we’re trying to expose the people to different types of music," Paul Chibe, Budweiser's VP of marketing, told Billboard. "Much like last year, where if you never saw Pearl Jam but you're a Jay-Z fan, we want fans of Beyonce or Calvin Harris or Wiz Khalifa to have the opportunity to see Nine Inch Nails or stuff they might have seen for awhile like Public Enemy. That eclectic mix creates an opportunity for us to really show the impact of music and culture."

Fans of the fest's Facebook page will have a chance to get early bird tickets through next Tuesday, with general public tickets going on sale next Wednesday, April 17th. Check out a trailer down below, most likely featuring some footage from the Ron Howard-directed doc that's expected to drop right before Made In America's second run... more »

While the above headline may read like a guest post from The Onion, it's indeed true. As reported by Reuters over the weekend, a pair of Republican lawmakers — U.S. Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart — have launched an investigation into Jay-Z and Beyoncé's recent trip to Cuba. In a letter to the Office of Foreign Assets Control, the Congress members asked who granted the couple a license to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary in the country, and what kind of license it was, as they can only be granted for academic, religious or cultural exchanges. more »

Watch the New ‘Great Gatsby’ Trailer, Featuring Music From Florence + the Machine, Beyoncé and More

Warner Bros. released yet another trailer from Baz Luhrmann's 'remixed' rendition of The Great Gatsby this morning, featuring new music from Florence + the Machine ("Over the Love"), Beyoncé x André 3000 ("Back to Black"), and Lana Del Rey ("Young and Beautiful").

"F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel is peppered with contemporary music references specific to the story's setting of 1922," Luhrmann said in a press release. "While we acknowledge, as Fitzgerald phrased it, 'the Jazz Age,' and this is the period represented on screen, we — our audience — are living in the 'hip-hop age' and want our viewers to feel the impact of modern-day music the way Fitzgerald did for the readers of his novel at the time of its publication."

The Great Gatsby is that classic American story of one’s introduction to extravagance, decadence and illusion," added Jay-Z, an executive producer of the film and its soundtrack. "It’s ripe for experimentation and ready to be interpreted with a modern twist. The imagination Baz brought toMoulin Rouge! made it a masterpiece, and Romeo + Juliet's score wasn’t just in the background; the music became a character. This film’s vision and direction has all the makings of an epic experience."

Well alright then; you be the judge by checking out the latest trailer below, right alongside a complete rundown of the soundtrack... more »

Listen: Jay-Z Lends a Couple Verses to Kendrick Lamar’s New Remix

"Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe (Remix)"

"Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe (Remix)"

By Andrew Parks, eMusic Contributor

Kendrick Lamar shared the official audio from his "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" remix yesterday, most likely spurred on by the fact that Jay-Z's engineer/DJ (Young Guru) dropped it in a South by Southwest set last week. A pass-the-mic pairing that lives up to the living legends premise of its record sleeve — Kobe and Michael standing in for Kendrick and Jay — it makes both MCs sound as hungry as they've ever been and blows away the Lady Gaga version that never saw the light of day.

"The fact is I had to realize the business end of this game," Lamar explained as word got out about two Gaga tracks that never made it onto his breakthrough album. "I come from the grind where we put out mixtapes. You ain't gotta worry about clearances or even deadlines and with that situation, that situation was a deadline situation. We had to meet these pre-orders. I was frustrated about it. My team was frustrated about it, but at the same time, we had to move forward."

"When I collaborate with an artist, I work solely with them, not with their camps or management," Gaga countered. "It's purely organic and creative. I love Kendrick dearly as a friend, but was not willing to compromise musically to the changes his team was making to my music...He's a good kid, it's just sometimes a mad city."
