'Cowboy Jack' Clement
"Cowboy" Jack Clement — a close friend of Johnny Cash who arranged the horns on "Ring of Fire" and produced Waylon Jennings' seminal outlaw-country album Dreaming My Dreams — was found dead in his Nashville home today after a long battle with liver cancer. He was 82.
One of Music City's secret weapons, Clement was recently named as an inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame for his work with everyone from Dolly Parton to U2. He's also been honored with a lifetime achievement award through the Americana Music Association and a nod in Nashville's Songwriters Hall of Fame.
