According to a brief fan site statement, Morrissey's memoir has been scrapped from Penguin's release schedule entirely after the two parties reached a "last-minute content disagreement." Morrissey Donates Gordon Ramsay Settlement Towards Foie Gras Fight

No Channel 4, you may not get what you want

No Channel 4, you may not get what you want

By Andrew Parks, eMusic Contributor

This week's Morrissey news has nothing to do with reports of his death or a fawning DVD; it's the latest round in the former Smiths frontman's never-ending fight against animal cruelty. As reported over at the Guardian, the man behind Meat Is Murder recently won a £10,000 settlement against Channel 4 for their unauthorized use of "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" in Gordon Ramsay's Christmas Cookalong Live special. And what is he doing with the money? Why, he's donating it all to PETA so that they can use it in their campaign against the foie gras industry.

"Ramsay may very well stick his head in his microwave when he hears that the money I received from Channel 4 because one of my songs used to promote his Christmas show is being donated to PETA to fight foie gras," Morrissey wrote in a statement. "Foie gras is so cruelly produced that he'd be against it if he had an ethical bone in his body."

"With this generous gift," a PETA representative added, "Morrissey is literally putting his money where his mouth is and combating cruelty to animals."

Indeed. Maybe Gordon should have gotten this version cleared instead... more »

In a move that doesn't quite make up for his recent concert cancellations — the guy's health has been in rough shape, but still, there's nothing like seeing Morrissey in the flesh — the former Smiths frontman has announced plans to air his upcoming concert film in select theaters across the U.S. and one of Morrissey's biggest fan bases, Mexico. Morrissey 25: Live From Hollywood High was filmed at the L.A. venue last March, and was initially meant to be a simple DVD release. It'll now hit the silver screen in August.
